New shorter website name:  "" (28 Aug AD 2016)

A new domain name has been purchased for the Spetchley Chaplaincy website:

Although the former and somewhat longer web address of "" will still work, if you are giving the web address to friends it is preferable to give them the new shorter form.

Organ Restoration (16 Aug AD 2016)

Work is currently in progress to restore the chapel's pipe organ to working order.   Quotes have been received from a number of local organ builders and it is hoped to appoint one of them shortly.

Although there can typically be a significant waiting list for organ restoration work to be undertaken, it might nevertheless be possible to have a working organ by the end of this calendar year.

As of 1 Oct AD 2016 it has been decided not to proceed with the restoration.

Congregational Singing of the Ordinary of the Mass in Latin (16 Aug AD 2016)

Although the Schola has a role in leading the singing of the Ordinary of the Mass (the Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, and Agnus), this should ideally be sung by the entire congregation.

To help the congregation learn those parts of the sung Mass which pertain to them a set of recordings has been made available online on the Schola Gregoriana Malverniensis's Home Practice pages.

Of the Gregorian Chant Mass settings listed there the most frequently used will be Mass VIII ("De angelis") and Mass XI ("Orbis factor") which is commonly used on Sundays during "green" time:  i.e. on the Sundays after Epiphany and the Sundays after Pentecost.

29 May AD 2016 - Corpus Christi procession (30 May AD 2016)

After Mass for the Solemnity of Corpus Christi a Eucharistic procession made its way from the chapel to the church of All Saints in the grounds of Spetchley Park, accompanied by the singing of a number of traditional plainsong hymns including Ave verum, Panis angelicus, Ecce panis angelorum and finishing with Pange lingua.   Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament was then held in All Saints' church.
